I do not know the authorize ideology, he refers to Marx in passing, but not in an overt “Marx is the man” statement, more in a “don’t need to be hit over the head by Marx to read the writing on the wall” kinda way. But as far as the topic of the article goes…he’s right on the money in shining a bright light on the public education system of the good ol’ U.S. of A.
What does the author, and I use that term very loosely have to say for himself?
This is my attempt to make pedophile situations safer for those juveniles that find themselves involved in them, by establishing certain rules for these adults to follow. I hope to achieve this by appealing to the better nature of pedosexuals, with hope that their doing so will result in less hatred and perhaps lighter sentences should they ever be caught.
Sir, you are evil. A simple kind of evil. There is nothing else to say. Children sir are not adults…I know, obvious isn’t it…and can’t make decisions of this kind for themselves. They can not “consent” to being the object of some one’s sexual desires…that’s why it’s illegal to have sex with them. There is a lot of gray in this world sir, but not on this issue. Either you believe children should be protected from sexual predators or you believe they should be the object of sexual predators. Obviously sir we know where you fit in on this. What’s next sir…will you be, as one commenter on Amazon’s site ask…”So what’s next? A do-it-yourself book on how to rape and torture women?” Or will you be putting out an entire series like the “Dummies” books? I can see the title now…”Molestation of your niece…for Dummies”.
And what does Amazon have to say about this?
Amazon believes it is censorship not to sell certain books simply because we or others believe their message is objectionable. Amazon does not support or promote hatred or criminal acts, however, we do support the right of every individual to make their own purchasing decisions.
Amazon, shame on you. That’s all I can say. Shame on you.
After admitting that he was a Socialist, the new MSNBC host O’Donnell of course caught the attention of Beck and so now we have been graced with his extra special explanations.
Now…now that we have been “schooled” as it were I would like to simply take two issues with this. Yep, just two…it’s my day off from work and I have a business day of nothing scheduled…
First, O’Donnell is 100% right…the United States of America has a “mixed economy”. We do have a healthy serving of “socialist” programs on the books. We do “enjoy” various socialist programs…such as education, transportation, now health care, government control of the automobile sector, government control of the banking sector, the US Postal Service, Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid…and the list kinda goes on and on…
He’s right. And his point? I think it’s glaringly obvious…we are all socialist and it’s good so just go with it. We need it. I mean, Capitalism is just so…mean. You’d have sick people die. Old people run out of money. Your mail wouldn’t ever make it to where it’s going. A little socialism is good, it keeps the bad things at bay.
His second point is that there is such a thing as “bad” socialism. He even goes so far as to state that he would stand up with Beck to fight “bad” socialism. Of course he’s a little vague on what constitutes “bad” socialism…I mean everything we are doing now is apparently good…so I assume what we aren’t doing is bad, but I don’t know…he doesn’t “school” me.
Here is a good ol’ example of how society is screaming to it’s death.
A Duncan woman called deputies because her husband was snoring too loudly. It happened Tuesday evening at a home on South Lakeview Drive. According to a police report, the woman and her husband both work third shift. She says she was trying to sleep but he was snoring too loudly so she asked him to go to another room. She couldn’t go back to sleep and when she got up, she called him a “bastard” and the two began arguing. The woman called police and he left after telling her it would take the SWAT team to bring him in. The responding deputy says the woman had no injuries and did not complain of any.
So basically we are at a point where we…and by we I mean the “collective” we…we can’t solve simple problems anymore. We have to call in the Government, whether it’s the local, state or federal…to solve our problems. No law was broken. No one was in danger. Hell, no one was stuck in a tree. Nope, we have a grown woman who can’t deal with her husband snoring so she called the cops.
I think that Pogo was right: “We have met the enemy and he is us.“ We are the problem with ourselves. We lack freedom and responsibility. We almost abhor it on a personal level. I can’t tell you which came first, “the chick or the egg”, or in this case our desire to be taken care of versus others desire to take care of us control us. I don’t know the answer to that. It’s almost too close to call I think.
But the paper is changing colors. The blue litmus paper is pink and becoming magenta fast. How do I know? Because for the love of Pete, a grown woman called the freaking cops on her snoring husband!
I asked because I was downloading the latest version of Firefox over at Mozilla.org. And it was there that I ran across their “motto”…well to be fair I am assuming it is there motto:
We believe that the Internet should be public, open and accessible.
And at first I was a little annoyed. Like I get when I think about the “Net Neutrality” people. But then I had a moment of pause. I am not entirely sure if my definition of “public”, “open” and “accessible” is the same as the fine folks at Mozilla. I am assuming they mean that the government should pay for it all and that no one should be allowed to restrict access to the “interwebs” by way of price or controls or anything such as that. But that is an assumption. And yes, I am a little biased and gun shy by the use of the word “public”. Every-time I hear it or read it the hair on the back of my neck stands up and I get very agitated. Public has become a dirty word in my house. And in my job. There is no way around my disdain for the word. It brings up collectivist, Marxist, Socialist and Communist images in my head. If that’s their definition of public, one where the Internet is bought and paid for and ran for the “public” good on the public dime then I am thoroughly against their goals and motto and may honestly have to reassess my use of Firefox…as it may help strengthen their cause…one that I so thoroughly disagree with.
I wonder how true the following analogy is: Living in a socialist country or a pseudo-socialist country is like being an adult living at your mom & dad’s. They make the rules. They decide what you can do, when you come and go…and if you don’t like it…tough. Go live some where else. My house, my rules.
First, turn your eyes towards these two articles…one on Cnet and the other at AOL’s Daily Finance.
Now, I know, I know…there’s so much juicy anti-government targets in this fight. Encroaching, greedy, government hands in my pockets. 1984 Big Brother sneaking in and getting all my data and me cowering in the privacy-less corner… Yeah, lots of stuff, and sure, that might not be a bad thing to rail against. But I would like to say the following instead:
This is what happens when you ask your government…state, local, federal…doesn’t matter; to take care of you and all your bills. To feed you. To cloth you. To keep you safe and warm. To give you a bed and a home to sleep in. To keep those evil Capitalist out of you life. To ensure that you don’t have to work. To make sure you get resources without have to trade one of your own (can you say “labor”…I knew you could). To keep you healthy. To provide you a “safety net” against the risks of life. To keep you safe from the weather. To keep you free of dissenting opinion. These are the things you have asked for…what we have asked for as a nation. What we agreed we wanted as candidate after candidate, Republican and Democrat promised we didn’t have to worry about such annoying things as “life”. This is what you get.
This is what Ayn Rand called “causality”. That it is important, life and death importation, to be able to say what caused something. Not for the sake of blame and “I-told-you-so’s”m but so you could have an understanding of: How did this happen? What caused this? How do we avoid this in the future?
What you have now is a broke country. Broke states. Broke local governments. We have asked these entities to take care of us and they have failed to do so on the dime they had. There was the inevitable turn in the market and a loss of tax revenue and so these very groups that we have charged to pay for our lives don’t have the money…so they have to do what everyone does when they find out that they are “cash poor” as Dave Ramsey is fond of saying. They must find the money. And this is one of the things that North Carolina is doing. They are trying to get the money.
Right, wrong, irrelevant…North Carolina says Amazon owes the remittance and that’s that. You can’t have it both ways people. That’s the point to this. You can’t have the government pay for everything but not give them the money for them to pay for it with.
Of course we all know where this train ends…but causality being what it is…it’s important to know how the train got started. It started with you. It started with me. Our parents. Our grand parents. It started with honest Americans bought the line that government can take care of you. That any ideology based on enslaving a minority to pay for the wants and needs of the majority is flawed because of the laws of economics. The laws of physics if you will…they don’t allow this. It fails from the weight of the illogical every time.
We caused this when we got on the train. And now to judge how the conductor runs the train is simply being intellectually dishonest. You can not board the train and put yourself over to the conductor and engineer…and judge them at the same time. “Please take care of me…but don’t make me help you”. It seems dishonest. You can not yell at North Carolina for over-reaching. You can not get angry that they are asking for too much information. You appointed them the engineer and conductor…soon they will have even more information and you will have even less freedom and absolutely no privacy. You have asked them to do the impossible. You agreed with their trade…your freedom for your security. And soon you will have neither.
The causality is simple. The cure is even more simple. We should have never gotten on this train. And now…we must jump off as soon as possible…and be prepared for a very bumpy landing. And hope we walk away.
First have a listen to O’Reilly “lightly” sparring with Stossel about legalization of pot…and other drugs.
Now, for the sake of full disclosure I believe wholeheartedly in the fundamental right of each and every human being to do what ever stupid crap they want to do to themselves. I personally have chosen not to include drug taking in my own list of stupid behavior but, I fully support everyone’s right to be stupid. And to be honest I think logic and intellectual thought is on mine and Mr. Stossel’s side.
Follow me if you would please.
Every individual who is of “age” owns themselves. Of age of course is slightly subjective but we can all agree a twelve year old doesn’t own themselves and an eighteen year old should. So for sake of argument we are talking about “adults” here.
An adult who owns him or herself should be free to do what every they would like to their person. This means ANYTHING. Not things that other people think are wrong but things they think are right. That ,boys and girls would mean that if the “collective” decides what I can do…then I do not own myself. And that would make me a slave to the collective and slavery is bad. Slavery’s bad mkay.
So, in continuum… If I own myself, and I am not a slave to another person and I am considered an “adult”, then I get to make my own decisions. And all decisions are equal. So as long as I am not infringing on the rights of another adult or endangering another person and the only person to possibly suffer from my behavior is me…then I should be allowed to do what ever I want. Simple.
But as Mr. O’reilly’s arguments are not only flawed but pretty much flat. Let’s look at them shall we? Yes, let’s.
Got the above image from the fellows at Blackfive. And yes, it is a great pic, and a pretty good Inspiration Poster clone. But I think that it is even more telling than it appears.
First the back story…from what I understand this image was taken by a coalition partner, the Dane’s I believe. The image was snapped as a group of US Marines were protecting an injured Afghan national (civilian). The Afghan national was injured by an IED that had gone off during a firefight. The Marines were tending to the Afghan civilian while still in the middle of that firefight. At the moment of the image a Medevac helicopter was on approach. So they were shielding the injured Afghani from the rotor wash as well as from any damage during the fire fight.
Now I say all of that to say this…they don’t have to do that. These are warriors who do not have to protect anyone. Much less give medical care. And just like this story showed, it is sad that the world hates us, but when it comes time for someone to protect the innocent in this world from harm, it’s an American that does it. And once again, sadly because I very pro-US Army, it’s a group of US Marines that get the glory. And I am okay with that. It’s an American doing the hard work and Americans protecting some one from harm again.
And before any one says, “but if they weren’t there then the IED wouldn’t have been planted and the Afghani civilian wouldn’t have been hurt…blah blah blah”. That’s a fundamentally flawed argument from the start because this isn’t a fight about the last 10 years…this is about the last 1500 years and any one who says otherwise is being more than a tad bit intellectually dishonest.
The last thing I would like to say is that, and to be fair this is a stereotype, generally the American political left is very anti-military. They consider them dirty stinky creatures that should never be brought out. They should stay in their little “in-case of emergency – break glass” vials on the shelf getting dusty from years upon years of none use…because there’s never such an emergency. They, the left, talk down to our Military. They are knuckle-draggers and the poverty stricken brain-dead losers who can’t find anything else to do with their lives.
But at the same time we are told that we should take care of our fellow man and that we should be just and caring. Well, I think that picture, of seven U.S. Marines shows clearly how just and caring we are as a nation and how much our Military values human life and will give of themselves to protect it at the cost of their own lives.
